Menu Templates
We have a number of basic Primary templates that you can use. They are fully compliant with both the food standards and the nutrition standards. Please use them for your own situations. If you would like a copy of any of these menus, please email Rachel Brown at
rbrown@greengourmet.co.uk.
All the menus have been structured around 100 pupils per day. The first page shows the actual suggested menu, divided into a meat dish, a vegetarian dish, starchy foods, vegetables, deserts, drinks and extras. The first figure in the square brackets represents the number of servings and the second figure gives you the actual serving size, in grammes. Although I have include bread in the menu (as it is a valuable contributor to energy, carbohydrates and calcium) it does not have to appear on te menu (salt levels can be a problem). I have also included vegetarian options, which again are not obligatory. The second page is the actual analysis on the whole menu. The green columns show that all the nutrient recommendations have been met. If you would like further information on any of the menus, such as recipes used, costings and a shopping list for a menu, please contact
Rachel Brown. (All the recipes used in the Green Gourmet menu are available on the recipe page).
Please note I cannot guarantee absolute accuracy on these menus as there are so many variables and if anybody finds a glaring error - please don't hesitate to get in touch. Likewise, if anyone would like to share a menu, please send me a pdf version and I will gladly post it on this page.
Practical Tips
Achieving compliant menus is a complicated business. We have a series of sheets that can help you meet both the food standards and the nutrition standards on some of the more challenging food groups and nutrients.
