2013 Green Gourmet Awarded For The Best Employer Contribution to Cirencester College

Green Gourmet was honoured at the 2013 Cirencester College Awards ceremony with the award for Best Employer Contribution.

Cirencester College promotes several apprenticeship opportunities across the county and beyond.

The college is committed to providing high quality, professional apprenticeships at intermediate, advanced and higher levels for Gloucestershire and the surrounding area in accountancy, advertising and marketing communications, business administration, creative and digital media, customer service, financial services, interactive design and development, IT application specialist, marketing, social media and digital marketing, supporting learning in schools, team leadership and management.

The apprenticeship team is made up of industry experts who are happy to speak to employers thinking of taking on an apprentice.

Green Gourmet developed close ties with the college, recruiting four local apprentices with them in Marketing, Finance, Sales/HR and Operations. The college does an excellent job in providing opportunities for Gloucestershire´s young people.

The apprentices have bought a fresh energy into the company, real long-term benefits are being seen in many different ways. Other staff have improved their professional skills by having to supervise and mentor young people, experienced staff have been freed from some
routine work which has made their jobs more interesting and productive and in some cases it's been a fantastic way to recruit.

The apprenticeship program is now seen as a permanent role in its staffing structure which means 5 or 6 apprenticeship positions in a head office of 31 people.

Apprentice Testimonial

“Becoming an apprentice was one of the best life choices I’ve made. Green Gourmet provided me with the opportunity to gain experience
in the workplace, learn and grow as an individual all whilst earning a healthy wage. This is a great combination and I find myself feeling so
much more fulfilled in my day to day life. All my colleagues were so helpful and welcoming throughout my induction which has aided me in
settling in and becoming comfortable with my duties. If you feel as if you have had enough of full time education as I did, an apprenticeship is a
great route to pursue.”

Tae Churchill, Operations Apprentice

“We see apprenticeships as an excellent source of recruitment. If both parties are committed to the programme, it is an ideal opportunity,
particularly in the current climate, for the apprentice to gain further qualifications whilst gaining work experience – another alternative to the conventional university route. Although Green Gourmet is limited because of its size, we have found quality people who are a great fit withour company ethos and produce a high standard of work”

Julie Moore, Managing Director

“Being offered a newly created position at this level of management was an exciting step up for me. I’m delighted Julie has not only given me
this opportunity, but more importantly given me the time, coaching and freedom to settle in and develop my skills as the role has grown.”
Karen Williams, Financial Controller

“The opportunities I have received to take on new challenges at Green Gourmet have given me a view on my working life that I didn’t think
I would experience. My aspirations for what I can achieve and the enjoyment I get from work have been transformed.”

Sarah Pugh, Operations Assistant

“Julie has struck a great balance on overseeing my contribution towards the development of our brands. She has shown her belief in my abilities
by giving me the freedom and the challenge to think for myself; whilst her door is always open for advice if needed.”
