Green Gourmet wins 2nd Mercury award for their first to market it’s just… my box of fish and chips product.

Food innovation company, Green Gourmet, is celebrating a second Mercury Award win in three years at the SIAL Middle East expo.

The Mercury’s are the leading awards in the global travel catering industry and are judged by a highly respected panel of senior caterers and industry representatives.

The company won for their first to market it’s just… my box of fish and chips product.

The product enables caterers to tap into the strong demand for the classic British fish supper. Two years in the making, it solves the previous problem of how to keep batter crispy and chips non-soggy in an oven-cook, consumer ready box.

The product features white and flaky, sustainably sourced, cod fillet and is the first consumer ready product for the global travel market to be certified to the Marine Stewardship Council’s (MSC) environmental standard.

Rob Freeman, Head of NPD and Technical at Green Gourmet says, “Challenging the expectations of what travel and leisure caterers can successfully serve with restricted facilities is what Green Gourmet is all about. We’re delighted that such a highly respected judging panel has selected our it’s just… my box of fish and chips as the Mercury Award Food & Beverage winner for 2014.”

The product has already achieved a summer 2014 listing with British Airways and is currently being trialled by leading travel and leisure caterers around the world.
