Green Gourmet wins 3rd Mercury award with innovative sweet potato fries
The Mercurys, the world’s most influential awards in travel catering, took place on 5th December in Abu Dhabi as the value of in-flight catering set to reach US$18 billion by 2020; the winners were announced at the glittering gala dinner at Shangri-La Hotel, Qaryat al Beri in Abu Dhabi, with the awards an integral part of the 7th edition of SIAL Middle East 2016.
Green Gourmet are thrilled to announce that their innovative sweet potato fries have won a prestigious Mercury award for best savoury product at the SIAL Middle East 2016.
A delicious new addition to the Source Foods brand, the sweet potato fries have been developed in response to the ever increasing global demand for the sweet potato and as a marketplace first amongst travel caterers.
Calling upon their knowledge and unsurpassed product performance in pre-packaged potato fries and chips for on board service, Green Gourmet have considered all aspects of the consumer experience when developing the product, from taste through to packaging.
Tom Kanchanawat, Business Development Manager at Green Gourmet said “Green Gourmet thrive on pushing the boundaries of what can be served on board and our sweet potato fries represent a trailblazing product in the travel marketplace”.
Overcoming the challenges faced with the natural soft texture of sweet potato, the fries go through a special secret process to deliver a crispy finish. This paired with a unique infusion of garlic, rosemary and chilli ensures the fries taste just as good in the air as on land.
Tom continued: “The Mercury’s recognize outstanding achievement in the sector and we’re incredibly proud to have won our 3rd Mercury award for our sweet potato fries”.
The product has already received great feedback from early testing and attracting widespread interest across the travel catering industry.
